The unveiling of the Otis Booth Pavilion at the Natural History Museum

June 8, 2013: The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County celebrates its 100th anniversary. During this week-end long event, the opening of the new North Entrance of the Museum occurred. This entrance, facing Exposition bvd and the University of Southern California (USC) is made of a big glass cube containing the bones of a Fin Whale. You should check out the unveiling of this entrance, called the "Otis Booth Pavilion", as it is pretty spectacular!

The Fin Whale is in a dive position, as in the last picture of the movie projected on the giant screen.

With this little blog post, the Mineral Sciences team wanted to take the opportunity to share our love of our entire museum, and not only the Gem & Mineral section! Congrats NHM, with the new Pavilion, the 2 newly open exhibits (the Nature Garden and the Natural Lab) and a third one to open in July 2013 ("Becoming LA"), you are definitely one of the best Natural History Museum in the US... and more!
